Before I had the kids, I wasn’t that crazy about summer. I would much rather have a nice cold, snowy winter day than a hot, humid summer one! I only enjoyed the summer heat if I was at the lake, swimming, camping, boating or tubing down the river all while enjoying a nice cold, refreshing adult beverage. It’s amazing what having kids does to change your opinion of EVERYTHING! I still love cold, snowy days, but I find myself hoping that we don’t have TOO many of those days. Now, I would much rather have a hot day so that I can enjoy playing outside with my kiddos! I think, if they could, they would live outside. They would much rather be outside that inside. The only way I can usually get them to go in the house is to bribe them with food or The Wiggles. Hey, it works!
Well, today was a typical hot day so we took full advantage of it and enjoyed our backyard. Now, when we started out this morning, I have to admit I didn’t exactly have the highest hopes of having a great day, but it turned out to be awesome! You see, the kids all woke up at 6:00 this morning! That is way too early for my kiddos! Usually they sleep in until at least 7:30, so when they woke up at 6, I didn’t know what to expect for the rest of the day. Well, all six of us ended up taking a nice, long 2 hour nap from 11-1 and boy, did we feel better! Normally they nap at 1:00 for about an hour and a half, so I guess they were tired today! Since they went down for such an early nap, we had a couple extra hours to spend with daddy before he had to go to work when we all woke up. He works from 5pm to 3am, so usually when naptime is over, he has to get ready for work and then leaves.
We decided to take full advantage of the wonderful moods they were all in and got out our pool for the first time this year! They all had a great time and I finally made them go inside after playing outside for 2 1/2 hours. Normally, I wouldn’t worry about them being outside for so long, but it was the first time it got really hot here, and playing in the water makes anyone tired! They loved being able to get in and out of the pool a little more independently this year than they could last year. They would get out, run around the yard for a few minutes and then get right back in the water! They were so much fun to watch!
The best part is that they were all exhausted by bedtime tonight, so hopefully they will all sleep well!
Now, the part you are really here for, the pictures!
